Cisco certifications have been coveted by network engineers and employers in all industries all over the world. The global community of Cisco Certified Professionals is greater than 2 million in number. Cisco offers five levels of network certification. These five levels are:
- Entry Level
- Associate Level
- Professional Level
- Expert Level
- Architect Level
Entry-level Cisco certifications begin either with Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) certification as an interim step to the Associate-level Cisco Certifications like CCNA Security, or a Cisco Certified Technician (CCT) certification. Both of these certifications can be undertaken for someone looking to pursue a career in Cisco. There are virtually no prerequisites for these certifications.
A comparison between Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician(CCENT) and Cisco Certified Technician(CCT).
The CCENT certifies that you possess the skill and knowledge to install, operate and troubleshoot a small enterprise branch network. You will also gain basic knowledge about network security. This certification will help you distinguish yourself from your fellow applicants in an entry-level job and will increase your job prospects. The CCENT curriculum covers networking fundamentals, WAN technologies, basic security, routing and switching fundamentals, and configuring simple networks. However, a recertification test needs to be undertaken every 3 years to remain a Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician.
Cisco Certified Technicians have the skills to diagnose, restore, repair, and replace critical Cisco networking and system devices at customer sites. If you know your way around computers well enough and would prefer to skip straight to the networking side of IT infrastructure, Cisco has an apt certification for entry-level network technicians called the CCT. Typical duties include installing, troubleshooting, and repairing Cisco routers, switches, and other network-related devices. there were 2 domains available for CCT certification:
- CCT Routing and Switching
- CCT Data Center
These are both valid for 3 years.
Both the CCENT and the CCT certifications serve as starting points for individuals interested in starting a career as a networking professional.
