Today, VMware has certified 50,000 VMware Certified Professionals (VCP) and more than 50 VMware Certified Design Experts (VCDX). The reason for its popularity is the way VMware certifications develop virtualization skills and knowledge in a candidate. The VMware certification path is the longest and most recognized. There are several certifications offered by VMware, but having some of the most important is definitely crucial for taking the right career move.
The VCP is VMware’s entry level certification. It requires training in VMware Education and successfully qualifying for the exam. The VCDX is the highest level of certification which requires a VCP, two level exams, design proposal and design defense. Both VCP and the VCDX have generated interest among IT professionals, but the issue has been the knowledge gap between the two certifications. Therefore VMware introduced a new process with TWO LEVELS of certification. The new certification is VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) with two levels “DCA” and “DCD”. Understood as:
VMware Certified Advanced Professional Datacenter Administration (VCAP-DCA) – Best for virtual infrastructure designers, this certification focuses on complex and huge virtual infrastructures. The candidate must have a VCP4 certification to be eligible for VCAP-DCA exam.
VMware Certified Advanced Professional Datacenter Design (VCAP-DCD) – This certification is tailored for virtual infrastructure designers and enables them to design virtual infrastructure for large multi-site enterprises. The eligibility criterion is the same as the criteria for VCAP-DCA exam.
Before you get tensed, there is no need to clear both the levels, only one test for achieving VCAP certification. These two certifications are the best VMware certifications and clearing any of the two will definitely represent your expertise and skills in virtualization.
