Did you know that every two seconds, someone requires a blood transfusion? Another shocking fact is that out of the annual blood requirement of 4 crore units in India only 40 lakh units are actually available. There is a huge shortage of blood supply owing to the reality that only 4% eligible population comes forward to donate blood. However, a few thoughtful people can change the world. Blood donation is one of those philanthropic causes in the world which has the potential of saving human lives. Koenig Solutions, taking its CSR initiative to the next level, recently organized a blood donation camp for the third consecutive time in a row. In association with Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, the camp was organized at Koenig’s office premises in Delhi on 21st December 2012.
More than a hundred large hearted Koenigites came forward to donate blood for this humanitarian cause. Not only that, some non-Koenigites also joined in to contribute their bit. No department was left behind in their enthusiasm to participate in this camp. Koenig Solutions is one of those rare organizations which believes in generously giving back to the society. Their CSR initiatives are spread across various causes including higher secondary education, vocational training and youth empowerment. Koenig provides free tuition classes to over 600 govt. school students every day. Apart from that, Koenig CSR helps needy youths stand on their feet by giving them computer vocational training free of cost.

On a cold December morning, the whole Koenig staff showed solidarity and encouraged each other during blood donation camp. The camp was open whole day, and anyone who wished to contribute could walk in, get screened by the doctors and donate blood. Donors were also given fruit juices and fresh fruits after the process. A classic example of true altruism, blood donation is one charity which is sure to help somebody who’s fighting for life.
More initiatives like this are needed from other organizations as well, if we want to make an impact in the society. There are many myths related to blood donation, which can only be dispelled through awareness. National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) is also actively promoting voluntary blood donation through their informative ad campaign titled, “Karke Dekhiye, Acha Lagta Hai“. Koenig Solutions fully supports this cause, which was evident from the stupendous response they got for this blood donation camp. In case you missed this one, Koenig’s CSR efforts don’t stop here. So stay tuned for the next!
